Liberal-progressive atheist. Rabid NCIS fan. There will be serious things here, but there will also be a LOT of fangirling, geekiness, and random love for the important things in my life. So just beware, and sit back and enjoy :)
So my parents just drove off to head back home. And I’m not freaking out, though I did tear up a little.
Here goes my next phase in life, being the kid who lives furthest from our parents, and will be a full time student learning to do this “being an independent adult” thing all over again. This time, I’m hoping it sticks.
Also, can’t WAIT to get internet! But that may be a couple more weeks yet. Thank goodness for smartphones and free wifi, even at the brewery downtown ;)
In Eureka. So tired. About half moved in. Did I say tired yet?
Hitting the store for some snacky things, then going back to new place and moving a few more things up the 26 steps. Then taking a muscle relaxer with a beer and watching some NCIS.
Did I mention I’m tired??
Oh dear god.
And, possibly, even, Dear God….
These people vote.
This woman makes me ill and want to laugh hysterically simultaneously. What did she expect from the interview foe chrissakes!
I think I’ve read exactly one story like this. Perhaps they’re more prevalent on the Pit?

Mostly packed, like 99%. Changing oil in my truck, then taking some stuff to the thrift store. Will probably be moving some furniture downstairs today. Then a going away dinner for me with the family.
Tomorrow going down to see some friends, but most importantly my bro’s fam and get some baby time before I can’t for awhile.
So very much going on, but so excited :)
This man is invaluable. Let’s elect him King of the World and kick back to watch him fix things so everything works.
I would like to just reblog this all day long, over and over again.

Just a quick FYI
I’m moving. Friday. 200 miles away. Or so. Into an upstairs studio in a Victorian built probably around the turn of the last century. FRIDAY. I had a panic attack earlier.
But right now, I’m a little drunk. And about to pass out because I drove more than 400 miles in about 13 hours today, along with dropping off applications, resumes, and viewing my soon-to-be living quarters.
So I’m going to watch Frasier, then sleep. Then finish packing and doing a buttload of shit over the next couple of days, hopefully including seeing my niece and nephew again before I leave.
I’M MOVING. YIKES.
Have you seen most of the plus-size sections out there? It’s horrifying. Whoever’s designing for plus-size doesn’t get it. The entire garment needs to be reconceived. You can’t just take a size 8 and make it larger. In my travels, I’ve been an advocate for larger women. I’ve been talking to designers, but only a half-dozen make an effort. Most say, ‘I don’t want a woman who’s a size 10 or 11 wearing my clothes.’ Well, shame on you! It’s not realistic. We need to address real women with real needs.
Tim Gunn

He needs his own line and it needs to be available at Target.

Okay, that’s about five applications I’ve filled out!!
In the last 36 hours. On top of singing last night, reworking my resume, trying not to freak out about moving shortly, and just simply trying to sleep through the anxiety :)
I MIGHT BE MOVING IN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO!!! I’m excited, and scared, but mostly excited. And I need to find a job like ASAP. Tomorrow Mom and I are making the 400+ mile round-trip to view an apartment and drop off some applications/resumes. All in hopes that I like this little studio in a converted Victorian (which looking at the pics online I will, though it looks pretty dinky) and then can find a job that will get me through the summer until I get my financial aid for school and living expenses.
And then start school. Yikes. I’m so ready, but I’m also kind of fidgety over the whole thing. Let’s get on with life already! But sheesh, am I ready?
Guess we’ll find out.
Now to go back to the resume, then get ready for the second concert this afternoon, and then do some more job hunting tonight, all the while facing the idea of driving upwards of 10 hours tomorrow. Ugh.
Thank goodness for the respite of Ralph Vaughn Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem. It’s keeping me sane right now :)
What an astonishing thing a book is. It’s a flat object made from a tree with flexible parts on which are imprinted lots of funny dark squiggles. But one glance at it and you’re inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs. Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic.
